Whichever design you go for, just make sure there are enough cupboard space as those linen cupboards fill up heaps quick. No point building a 41sq house with nice big bedrooms and forgetting the storage. Re: Do you regret building a smaller home? 22Oct 14, 2015 12:10 pm I think both are big - we are only building a 210sqm house and have 3 kids - aged 13,11 and 1. However we don't have alot of 'stuff' our boys only have a bed and desk in their rooms now. Toys are limited and fit in their small wardrobes. We made sure our new house has a activity room which will house the xboxes, PCs etc that they do use and they have friends over as well. I don't think the rooms are that small. We also have a 'side yard' (instead of backyard) for the little one. Really we use our living rooms more than our bedrooms - so have a lounge, family/dining and activity room. We currently live in a 5 bedroom house that has large bedrooms (older style house) but only one big living area and we find that our downfall - our bedrooms are basically wasted space for us - whereas our living area is crowed. Really I think you need to go on what will fit your family as well as budget. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Do you regret building a smaller home? 23Oct 15, 2015 2:42 pm My aim if we end up building is 4x4m for the minor bedrooms, but that includes space for a built in robe. I want those rooms to be able to fit a queen bed and bedside tables and a desk comfortably. You just cannot do that with a 3x3. Completely agree with comments about wasted space, also, just how many living areas do you need? If you have 3 kids, each with a decent size bedroom, would you need 3-5 living areas? That always confuses me when I see project home plans with that sort of stuff.... We would like 1 common area/family/meals room and one "formal lounge" where basically I can lock myself in there with a glass of wine and peace and quiet We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
