Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 15, 2015 8:33 pm Hi, I'm looking for a bilge pump that has discharge upto 15m head. Some of the companies that I looked at are Seaflo (3700gph, 12V) and Rule (4000gph, 12V). I plan to connect this to solar power and float switch to pump water into my home water tank (three-storey around 15m head). Has anybody had an experience with these pumps? If yes, what has been their performance overall (reliability, water discharge as expected)? Would be good to know other reputed bilge pump manufacturers as well. Thanks! Kushal Re: Bilge pumps (experience and recommendation) 2Jul 15, 2015 9:06 pm I would say that bilge pumps won't be up to the job as they are meant to operate at a fairly low head (typically 1-2m) Looking at the Seaflow pump data they seem to have a maximum head of 8m. Although the Rule pumps don't supply the same level of data I would expect a similar maximum head to the Seaflow pumps. if you want a solar powered pump I would suggest you look at borehole pumps which are designed to pump at higher heads.
