Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 12, 2015 7:53 pm I am on the south side of Brisbane and we have 2 older style sliding doors with the diamond security screen and wanted to upgrade to bifold doors to let more natural air flow in and to open up the area leading to the patio. One door is 2121 x 2100 and other is 3160 x 2100. We got a quote for both doors to be installed in wood and it was $13,000.00. Everywhere I have read states that aluminium is a cheaper and lower maintenance option so after consideration we thought that would be a better way to go but the quoting person said it was more expensive for aluminium and gave a quote of $16,000.00 for both doors installed. Considering I could get a brand new small car for the same price as 2 doors, I am wondering if this is a typical price and is it correct that wood bifold doors are the cheaper choice over aluminium? Am starting to feel a bit disheartened over something I was quite excited about :/
Re: Bifold doors - help please 2Jul 12, 2015 8:10 pm it maybe more ex because the leafs are not standard size. Still I would have expected wood to cost a lot more than aluminum. I would get more quotes. Re: Bifold doors - help please 4Jul 12, 2015 8:34 pm well not unless you mention which state you are in.
