we fell in love with two leather lounge sets from different suppliers: - Natuzzi - King Furniture I wonder if you have personal experience with the quality of their leather lounges? We are after a true-touch leather, which is warm in winder and cold in summer (based on what the salesman said and what I read from their websites). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Which lounge set is better? 2Jul 01, 2008 9:04 pm Hi VJ,
I have a King lounge suite for the rumpus room but it's not leather. The quality is good and it is very durable. But I also have a leather Natuzzi suite and it is divine. (Unfortunately everything in storage at the moment. ) If your budget extends to Natuzzi, there is no question for mine. The quality and comfort is superb. Just so luxurious and sensual. Mmmm. Oh I'm sorry. Yes VJ, Natuzzi is that good. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. We actually need two lounge sets (one for the HT and another for the family area - we're planning to use our old sofa in the leisure area upstairs).. but we fell in love with one King lounge suite (the Strata) - http://www.kingfurniture.com.au/strata.html - and two Natuzzi lounges (one with electric recliner and another without). Because we'll be having a small HT area, we are undecided whether to go for one with recliner or one without. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Which lounge set is better? 5Jul 01, 2008 10:01 pm As an ex-furniture salesperson with 15 years experience, all I can say is that Natuzzi wins hands down for style, but just pray you never have a problem with the sofas. Where I worked, we stopped retailing them because of the total frustration in trying to get them to accept any liability or interest in warranty issues - and there were (and still are, I hear) many. Hey, they're Italian - they are perfetto - any problem must be YOUR doing!
I'm considering King myself at the moment... Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Which lounge set is better? 6Jul 01, 2008 11:38 pm oh thats a scary story, considering the prices they are!
natuzzi are amazing though but try asking for a discount for two or even storage, over here they dont budge at all on either which natuzzi ones did you like? sometimes they have a free "motion" (eg recliner) offer with each sofa they run different promotions during the year which helps somewhat Re: Which lounge set is better? 7Jul 02, 2008 9:47 am i work on church st, near both stores, and i think i like King furniture better...but i do think they are expensive!! quality wise king furniture looks way way better....
am actually trying to convince my bettter half into getting one of those king sofa/lounge suits...prettyyyyy Re: Which lounge set is better? 8Jul 02, 2008 9:56 am I have a King Furniture Delta II - chose it because of the style, Natuzzi did not have anything similar (ie. very modular), it's great.
Natuzzi in Europe is not considered anything special, this is not to say they aren't good though. Re: Which lounge set is better? 9Jul 02, 2008 2:03 pm Thanks guys for your inputs...
Quote: which natuzzi ones did you like? sometimes they have a free "motion" (eg recliner) offer with each sofa We like the Nicolaus (with electric recliner) and the Odessa (with two-tone leather. We need one for the HT and family.. for the HT, we're thinking of the Nicolaus.. but wonder if it would be ok to have recliners considering that our HT is not that big. For the family, we're torn between Natuzzi's Odessa or King's Strata. Just rang Natuzzi and they extended their sale of 15% all sofas until Sunday! Yeeeppee.. we still have time to decide which sofa to buy. It will take 4 months for natuzzi to deliver it (Nov delivery)... so we have two months of no sofa at home . I got worried about the issues you raised about Natuzzi.. so if there are problems with the sofa, it would be hard to claim the warranty.. hmmm... unlike King, which I believe is being manufactured here in Australia. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Which lounge set is better? 11Jul 02, 2008 2:37 pm Haven't looked at Natuzzi yet, but I know that's on DH's list! I love the King modular sofas - that's what I want! I like the fabric ones , and wanted that for the family room, but DH thinks leather would serve us better with 4 (rowdy!) kids.....not sure. I want leather in HT, but I'd like fabric in family rm. Then there's the lounge, main bdrm retreat, and kids' upstairs games room!!!! So many decisions, so many $$$$$$$$ !!!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Which lounge set is better? 13Jul 02, 2008 3:17 pm Do you guys know how much it cost for one of those king couches? How expensive is expensive?
Thanks. Re: Which lounge set is better? 14Jul 02, 2008 3:29 pm If you're comparing King and Natuzzi pricewise, you will probably not get a fair comparison - Natuzzi being Italian, we're probably whacked with a lot of importing costs here in AUS.
I believe we paid a bit over $5k (on special) for 3 two seaters from King in "suede" - you can arrange them any way you like, I have a two seater, and a two seater in L shape, you can take backs off or leave them on, take arm rests on/off, just have a "cube" without anything, and also make it into a bed. And contrary to some opinions, "suede" cleans like a dream (talking about pen marks and some unidentified small marks - 2 kids). Re: Which lounge set is better? 15Jul 02, 2008 3:35 pm Hi Wonderland,
My King is a Delta. As they are modular, the price will be different for everyone depending on which pieces you select. Mine has one two seat piece, a single piece and a corner. And two tables that attach. The beauty of this one is that it easily converts to a double bed for kids sleepovers or my drunk friends. It's all steel framed so really durable and strong. And the fabric cover is really hard wearing. From memory it was a few thousand (about 3?? but don't quote me) but it's a few years old now. Don't know current prices. All online though I think so check out their website. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Which lounge set is better? 16Jul 02, 2008 3:43 pm Hi Jo, thanks again! You always seem to be my source of info!
I had a look at their website but they dont list prices, unless i didnt see it. I am also looking for a a louge for the HT, something like Kings would be good as you can make it as long or short as you like. Altho i've only really budgeted $2k-$3k for it. Wow, everything is so expensive!! Re: Which lounge set is better? 17Jul 02, 2008 3:57 pm wonderland Hi Jo, thanks again! You always seem to be my source of info! Doesn't mean it's correct. Try ebay wonderland. You'd be amazed what you can pick up. Not long ago there was a king delta suite on there very similar to mine, with a few accessories such as tables. They wanted $800 and not one bid!! There's an occasional Natuzzi bargain as well. Will keep my eyes open and pm you if I see anything. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Usually you're pretty spot on, so good record so far!! If you see something good, please PM me!! THanks. Re: Which lounge set is better? 20Jul 02, 2008 8:08 pm Quote: Do you guys know how much it cost for one of those king couches? How expensive is expensive? Thanks. Ok, here is the quotes that we got from King and Natuzzi: King's Strata (discounted already - winter sale): Fabric / Leather (True-touch leather made in Germany - more expensive than their Italian leather): $2,641 / $3,140 - 2-seater (Left and Right hand arm) $3,124 / $3,748 - 3-seater (Left and Right hand arm) For this sofa, you will be needing back cushion: Large back cushion: $362 / $500 Small back cushion: $346 / $465 The sofa is also available in 2.5 seater, can have L/R hand arm, armless and ottoman. Strata features: adjustable seat depth (you can slide the back/side arms to make it like a sofa bed Natuzzi: Odesa 098 (349cm length with 257cm chaise) - $10,064 in leather Diagonal in Alcantara Fabric (the most expensive type of suede fabric - category 99, almost as expensive as leather) - we selected 2 versions/modules (1x3seater with chaise & 1x2-seater) - $10,480 Nicolaus (for the HT): this is the one optional electric recliner (very nice!) depending on the modules/versions that you chose, it would cost around $13,178 to $21,000+. This is using the Cat40BE leather, which is the 2nd to the most expensive type of leather (warm in winter, cold in summer) that they offer. The Cat55 is the most expensive, an additional $2,500 approx. So, at the moment, we're leaning towards Nicolaus for the HT but as I've said, torn between King's Strata and Natuzzi's Odesa and Diagonal. Natuzzi's sale has been extended 'til Sunday (just rang them today to confirm), while King's winter sale will run for weeks... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7558 First time building 2 storey home in NSW.
