Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 17, 2015 9:25 pm Hi Everyone Just after some general advice our new home has just been bricked up and we have no sisalation installed the inside face of the brickwork has got some messy mortar hanging ooff it but compared to some other jobs I have seen its probably border line acceptable I guess. What im more concerned about is our damp course seems to have brickies mortar all through it. Should I be concerned with this as there are chunks everywhere im assuming the water will not drain through the weep holes unless its gushing water as I can see the concrete chunks creating a dam for water should I be concerned. Also what is the standard size for a cavity wall, I roughly measure ours from back of brickwork to the back edge of frame to be approx 25 to 30mm around the house however in spots the damp course seems very tight and is probably less than 10mm inbetween brickwork and damp course material. The fact that we have no sisalation concerns me as when the batts go in wont they just get wet as surely they will be touching the mortar and bricks and will soak up dampness. I cant believe our major project builder did not include sisalation as the cost is so cheap and I just assumed we would be getting it but no we didnt. Also our house is steel frame and the brickies have dropped mortar all through our c channels on the floor will I have any issues here or do I just let it go. ?the mortar is just pooling inside the c channels fair bit of mortar in them.
