Not sure why you would hate it but I think it is a brilliant technology and would fit the needs of most people. It definitely has it limitations but for normal everyday use, I think it is a cheap, easy and reliable solution. I would personally rate it as Cat6/ethernet cable > Powerline > Wifi, since with a Powerline you have both wifi and cable option.
