Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 12, 2015 12:12 pm We have a weatherboard property in Adelaide. They are not as common here as in Victoria. A North facing wall needs quite a bit of work. My options are: 1. Replace the bits that need replacing with new weatherboard. 2. Completely replace the weatherboard and replace the insulation whilst at it. 3. Completely replace the weatherboard with an alternative weatherboard-look material and replace the insulation whilst at it. Mostly looking for opinions on the above, especially 3, and a cost per sqm. I'll post some photos when I get the chance. Total coverage is around 50sqm (will provide better estimate when I post the photo). Add up all your cladding materials as in how many sq m, cost it all then add about the same in labour. What sort of a look are you going for ? You could go the traditional route like you already have or jazz it up a bit with some of the newer weatherboard lookalikes from Hardies like the Sycon Lunea etc. Stewie Re: Weatherboard Renovation in Adelaide - Alternative claddi 4Jun 15, 2015 5:49 pm I was surprised today to find out that new Western Red Cedar is available t under $8 per linear metre and 170 wide. That means costs for this are not as high as I had thought at around $800 for complete replacement. Of course there is sealing and painting on top of that. Any idea of an approximate labour cost to replace all the weatherboards in the left-most and middle sections (the right most section is OK because it is a recent addition)? Each board is 4m long, and there are 34 of them in total. Might cheaper to changer your idea of what makes a home, have you considered building a porch? 2 51794 2 5932 1 19722 |
