Howdy,
I've just moved in to my newly built home. One problem we have is the house is sitting well above the rest of the block. We have a sunken home theatre which looks to be at the correct height but I think the rest of the house has been built up to allow the sunken theatre.
Where this creates an issue is on the side of the house closest to the fence. There is around 1m gap from our house to the fence for the neighbors property with a fall of around 150mm. I intend on paving this area and want it to be level for obvious reasons. To do so means I have to remove some of the surrounding soil which will leave our foundations exposed. will this be dangerous and create bigger problems?
Alternatively, I'll have to build up the retaining wall and level all of the area to the higher height. Only issue with this is the fence will be a bit short and we will look straight over the top of it in to the neighbors yard.
