Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 23, 2015 2:20 pm Hi Everyone, It's been awhile since I posted because I was hoping to share some good news, or at least be excited about something. After signing with Aveling it felt like we ceased to exist, rarely was anyone available when I phoned, phone calls were hardly ever returned, my final documents had to be redone 5 times because of mistakes, the plans also went back 4 times, my house plans were submitted to the wrong section of the council and it took them ages to resubmit them, the problems were endless I thought once the slab went down things would improve, but they got worse. 17mths since signing and the house still isn't finished, I paid over $500 extra for 1 row of mosaic feature tiles in the kitchen, they were crooked and uneven and the silver ones were all marked, I asked for them to be fixed, but I was told they were fit for there purpose, the brick paving wasn't back filled, 9 of the silver light switch covers had dents, they couldn't get the rangehood I ordered so they put a cheaper one in, the shopping door into the carport didn't open because the frame of the tilt-a-door was in the way, they put the wrong colour carpet in the lounge room. The list goes on and on. We had our PC meeting and when I asked for red dots to mark things I was told "oh we don't do that" I had done my own check list so at least I had something, he kept asking if we had finished yet, that was when he wasn't on the phone, just about everything I brought up he dismissed with one reason or another. He said he would call me back that afternoon and let me know what was happening from there, that was a week ago, and everytime I have rung the office he's been in a meeting. So we still have no idea whats going on Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: My nightmare with Aveling Homes 2May 23, 2015 9:41 pm Sorry to hear this. Stand your ground. They're not doing you a favour to build you a house. You're paying good money. Call them and chase them up. Send an email every day referring to dates and what not. Good luck! Re: My nightmare with Aveling Homes 3May 23, 2015 11:43 pm Get yourself a building inspector has their talking crap to you and you cant possibly know all your detailed rights, you will be so much better off in the long run, these types eat poor unsuspecting clients and crap all over their rights, help yourself to some satisfaction by getting an inspector. Thank you Joker, I decided to get an inspector, and I'm glad I did, I'm waiting on the final report but they found things we would never of so it was worth spending the money. If there are structural defects then I suggest you get an engineers opinion on " fit for purpose" Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: My nightmare with Aveling Homes 9Jun 01, 2015 1:53 pm Do you have a steel truss roof by chance? Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: My nightmare with Aveling Homes 11Jun 02, 2015 9:17 am So it's not thermal expansion of the steel trusses then it might be deflection or redistribution of roof loads.. you will need to provide photos ,unfortunately climbing into the roof space maybe unsafe and can cause ceiling cracking.... and more info is required .eg how old is your house, is it still under warranty, where have you built?
