Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 16, 2015 2:09 pm Hi all, Please help! We're at a dilemma here. Basically, we got 2 options here: 1) 20mm Essastone to laundry, double vanity ensuite, single sink bathroom, kitchen bench & stove bench (without kitchen extension) https://app.box.com/s/nt7o2vrumrgxz55tbikb393ysd4a617e 2) No essastone (standard laminex) to laundry, ensuite & ensuite (ONLY stone to kitchen area), add extra $950 (after credit) to extend kitchen stove bench by a metre with top & bottom kitchen cabinet, stone bench & glass splashback. P/S that extra big pantry is not included in the $950 extra (we have to pay $1600 to add that in) https://app.box.com/s/4wc9ilknzbap4fv9mxbg3h9qlovbl9zc The builder told us the giveaway stone promo in option 1 worth about $3000, and the kitchen extension is about $1800. We suggested the swap, but they insisted they can't do straight swap (due to low cost of stone purchase &expensive kitchen cabinetery labour), but can give us discount on the kitchen extension if we don't take the stone promo. Without the kitchen extension, we would just have a small door pantry. But since we got another walk in pantry, we thought might as well make the kitchen stove bench a bit longer (look more streamlined). What do you guys think I should choose? Pay extra & disregard stone promo or just take the stone promo? Which give more value to the house? Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 2May 16, 2015 8:55 pm That is a massive pantry! And handy for storing - however stone in laundry is wasted (imo). After having an essastone kitchen I wouldn't have laminex. Sorry I'm not much help - good luck Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 4May 17, 2015 4:52 pm I would not bother with stone in the laundry, but I would want it in the bathroom where possible. But tbh, if you consider from a resale pov, I would think the pantry would be bring in more dollars than stone in the bathroom. You can always add stone to the bathroom...would be much harder to add in the pantry. Also if you think it is too big, have you considered making part of it a WIP from the game room, general house storage, particular for toys Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 5May 17, 2015 5:19 pm Its horses for courses. We were going to be charged 4000 top up over the premium stone for our 2.2m 60mm edge quartzite in the scullery and I opted to save the cash and go with quantum quartz because I think it will not be a major area. I have gone for granite in the laundry and marble in all bathrooms. Is there an option to take the stone promo and do option 2. How much would that add. Depends on how long you will be staying in the house but if it were me I would be going that route. Cheers Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 6May 17, 2015 8:45 pm Well it's not our forever home for sure, so didn't wanna spend too much to overcapitalise. If we just wanna take the bonus stone promo, spend the money for longer bench, then it's 1.8k. So essentially they only credit us half if we sacrifice the stone, which I think it's not worth it. On top of the 1.7k we paid for the WIP, just thought we spend too much here for pantry alone.. Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 7May 17, 2015 8:49 pm aloenyx Also if you think it is too big, have you considered making part of it a WIP from the game room, general house storage, particular for toys How do you propose I do that? Put another door at the back wall of the big WIP? Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 8May 17, 2015 8:53 pm So you are getting the walk-in pantry regardless? Based on our usage, I'd consider it reasonable size, and wouldn't want to go smaller. Then the choice is between having an extra 1m wide cabinet pantry vs having a longer benchtop? How long is the bench to start with? I think around 3m is enough, and rather than go longer than that would stick to the extra pantry rather than spend more. Stone in the bathrooms is nice, but have you checked if the promotion includes a colour you like? Re: Longer kitchen bench or extra essastone? HELP! 9May 18, 2015 1:45 am Hey onejohn, I added the pantry thanks to your suggestion we're getting the big pantry regardless...it's about whether to spend extra for longer kitchen stove bench top , extra cabinet & extra splashback..the builder won't budge on giving me that extension instead of the stone promo..Now I also playing hard ball, hopefully it ends well I'm building a new house.
