Might seem like a silly question but I can't find double entrance doors anywhere. Should I just be looking for single entrance doors and getting two with one being deadbolted?
Thanks

Re: Are double entrance doors just two doors? 4May 04, 2015 10:21 am Yes and no. For a pair of doors to be water/draught proof where they meet they should each really be rebated. You can still use just a couple of normal doors as a pair but unless you have the rebating it'll be a drafty house seeing as you should have a gap of 3mm or so between them. For these doors also you need to have the proper rebated door lock set. Stewie Re: Are double entrance doors just two doors? 5May 05, 2015 7:52 pm Stewie D Yes and no. Stewie Hi Stewie, I've seen plenty of builders and pre hung door suppliers over the years use a mushroom mould (the "T" piece one) to create a seal without the need and expense of getting the doors rebated. I have bought standard doors myself and cut my own 20mm x 20mm rebate on the edges. It works out heaps cheaper than getting a custom set from the joinery as you can use one of the standard range of bunnings doors which are pretty cheap in comparison. As a side note, anyone going down the rebated door track needs to be mindful that once doors have a rebate cut on them they become handed so the rebate on the left door is on the opposite edge to the right door. Unless they are a flush panel door you need to make sure one of each edge is rebated As for the rebated door lock, you can actually buy just a rebate kit which allows you to adapt any typical door lock to work on a door rebate Also, if you didn't have a mushroom mould or rebate they wouldn't be secure as someone could reach through the gap with a credit card or similar and flick the latch Re: Are double entrance doors just two doors? 6May 05, 2015 10:36 pm I agree 33amc about the need for a seal but I still like a proper rebate over a third party mould. I've seen both the Tee mould and also a z flashing but I never really liked them. It just comes down to personal preference. Stewie The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
