Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 25, 2015 4:09 pm Hi there, I am new on this forum and have a particular question that I have not seen before. We purchased our house 2 1/2 years ago, the owner subdivided the block, putting a fence on the new boundary line. There is a pool in the back yard and when the new fence was put in the pool pump and filter were moved which required new wiring and plumbing for the pump and filter. I was removing a plant from the garden and found the filter outlet pipe and wiring conduit laying on top of the soil, buried only by a layer of leaf litter and bark. The conduit goes about 3 metres through the garden then is travels along the fence to the pump. Where the conduit comes from the house you can see where the previous conduit was buried under ground (right under the new conduit). This situation was obviously not picked up in any of the pre-purchase inspections. My question is this, do we have any comeback against the previous owner for this and getting the situation rectified. Thanks, Re: Found power cable in garden laid under bark (in conduit) 2Apr 26, 2015 10:30 am I think you'd be pretty much out of luck, as your pre-purchase inspection failed to pick it up. You're just going to have to get a sparky to come in and reinstall the cabling in a 600mm deep trench. I'd suggest you arrange the trench dug yourself, as your sparky will charge you at his rates to get it done, but speak to your sparky first so you know where he wants it dug from and to. The conduit needs to be able to have fibre run through it. NBN and Opticomm are just… 4 2881 I had new concrete laid, extended the alfresco and had the sidewalks concreted too.
