From the whole controversy in fiona's thread - I thought I'd start my own.
We've used our timeshare to book an apartment on the edge of Hyde Park in Sydney for the week around NYE. We've never done a big NYE in the city - usually gone to my SIL's place for a BBQ, SingStar on the PS2 and fireworks on TV.
Next year we hope to start a family - so as a last "hurrah" for our family unit of 2 - we've booked a fanastic NYE package at Aria.
For those unfamiliar with Sydney's food scene - Matt Moran is the chef and stars on "The Chopping Block" on Ch 9 - but way before then he's always done great food and has a fabulous restaurant opposite the Opera House and with views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the fireworks.
An average dinner per person is around $200 + wine - the NYE package is $795pp - pre dinner drinks, balcony access for fireworks, 4 course dinner with matching wines, all beer/soft drinks/juices & champagne for the midnight fireworks and toasting.
Now - I could feed our family of 2 for 18-20 weeks on the money we'll spend - but what the heck! We have studied hard, worked hard, saved hard and I am sooo looking forward to it!
