Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 14, 2015 5:15 pm Hi folks, We exploring the idea of finishing our alfresco area in polished concrete (if possible). From what I recall the alfresco will have a 75mm step down from the main slab of the house. Our internal floors are wood, so we wanted the alfresco to contract the inside flooring. My question is, can we get polished conrete done in the alfresco area and if so, how much height will the additional concrete add, keeping in mind the alfresco is only 75mm lower than the house slab and we need to have the alfresco area lower than the inside. Anything else I'm missing or should i consider other options like paver or the like? We really wanted the concrete look though. Re: Polish concrete for alfresco area 2Apr 14, 2015 5:30 pm I would have thought you coudl jsut get a 75mm pad poured but think youre best bet would be to call local specialist contractors and check with them. You probably don't want water in your Alfresco ever getting back into your house. Re: Polish concrete for alfresco area 3Apr 14, 2015 5:47 pm A concrete slab can be poured over existing with correct preparation's. 75mm would be the minimum thickness for a new slab. keep in mind fall away from your house and also you have to be below the weep / breather holes in your brick work. sq mtr price starts around $140 for the concrete portion and around $80 for the grind, acid etch and seal. as a side not true polished concrete cant be outside, to slippery. you would need ground concrete. **not a smooth as polished Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Polish concrete for alfresco area 4Apr 14, 2015 6:19 pm Slabs are already poured? Would have been best to get the alfresco slab done in the right mix to cater for polishing. Might be able to get a thin layer added but best check with the experts Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!!
