Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Provisional Sum / Allowance 2Apr 13, 2015 9:48 pm I can't give you legal advice and I have not seen your docs but as experienced contract manager it seems you have to pay actual cost of the pool because it is a provisional sum and therefore subject of adjustment. However builder has to account for it. Get legal advice. Totally agree with the "Get Legal Advice" as well. Re: Provisional Sum / Allowance 4Apr 14, 2015 6:56 am You talk about revised plans etc , none of that matters, its what you sign that matters. A convenient way to think about PS is that it is a small cost plus contract embedded within your standard lump sum contract. This is why I highly recommend a pre contract review and PS is one of the hot spots under magnifying glass. Pre contract review is your most important inspection. Why? Because if you willingly sign off on a bad deal, law cannot help you, no one can.
