Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 18, 2015 3:47 pm Hi guys, We are currently building in Brisbane with PH and have just found out that there are three of the exact same house as ours being built in the same street. One is three houses down and the other is the next house after that. We have already signed, and whilst i'm confident we can make ours look very different by way of changing facade design and landscaping, I was just after peoples opinions on whether or not this will impact resale value, and any tips on how to make ours look different. Cheers, Danny Re: Multiples of the same house design in the same street 2Mar 18, 2015 4:21 pm Possibly if you have flexibility with materials, that should make a big difference, e.g, if the others are face brick maybe you could render or vice versa. I hate it. But they do out different facade finishes on them and sometimes diff types and shaped windows so you can't see they are exactly the same unless you really look. Re: Multiples of the same house design in the same street 5Mar 19, 2015 5:38 am I don't think people would pick it really. Most new houses in housing estates look more or less the same anyway Building Services Engineer Renovating our 1960's modernist home in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=82091 Re: Multiples of the same house design in the same street 6Mar 19, 2015 7:16 am Hi there, I think it may only be an issue if you are letting the property...where I am building, there are 6/8 of the new rental properties that are all the same design inside & out. All 6 look very similar, which I think will influence their 'rent-ability', because if you see one & it doesn't meet your needs, you may not bother seeing another; even though they may differ in size or characteristics like fittings & finishes. Mine is an investment, so I chose something quite different to offer variety - hoping it generates some interest Sent using Tapatalk Re: Multiples of the same house design in the same street 7Mar 19, 2015 2:13 pm Thanks for the responses guys, made me feel a bit less anxious about the whole thing. Im communicating with the builder to try and get a different appearance. Landscaping will help too. Thanks Re: Multiples of the same house design in the same street 9Mar 19, 2015 9:39 pm My neighbour is also Plantation (like me) and while their design is different and garage is on opposite side, they have the same roof and bricks! But we have front render and they don't, and I'm not sure what facade they went with. Like the others said, there's plenty of ways to stand out! I'm spoke to the builder I'm not sure if this is all true but basically went along the lines of they considered all options and if I was to compact and fill it… 2 7303 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13833 |
