I was thinking of a big window but not sure if it would work with one pane of glass!!! Does anyone have any idea's as to what would look good, compliment the room and make it feel more open by including the activity when we want?? This is the design in the display home.... Cheers, Andrew Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 2Mar 16, 2015 11:33 pm I actually like the plantation shutters, but you're right they'll not keep out any noise! Would a normal sliding window work there? Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 3Mar 16, 2015 11:40 pm Hi MalSannie, yeah I love Tha shutters as well but more than anything I recon they will cost a fortune! Lol!!! I don't really want a sliding window.... it would just feel tacky I recon. I want to still be able to keep an eye on kids from the kitchen/living area. I can only think of keeping the shutters and dealing with the noise (probably not that bad... just worried about cost), changing to glass (kids could smash glass I suppose) or just leave it open and do the shutters when I can afford them. Hmmmm.... Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 4Mar 17, 2015 12:12 am Hi awcarroll - we have built a similar house to you and have the shutters in between the living/games room. Personally i think it's one if the best features of our home, gives a great feel and versatile as can be open or closed and is bi-fold so sometimes(not often) we open the whole thing up. You are right it doesn't do a lot for noise but kids still love to close door and shutters and feel like they have privacy when they're watching a movie with friends. In terms of cost, we had a few shutters in the house and these particular ones were about $1300/1400. We had quotes from both boardwalk and blinds gallery and ended up with blinds gallery. Good luck with your build Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 6Mar 17, 2015 7:42 pm +Tbrown2012 Hi awcarroll - we have built a similar house to you and have the shutters in between the living/games room. Good luck with your build Hi Tbrown, Yeah I have been giving it some thought and sent away for a few quotes..... turns out they aren't that expensive (well the Chinese imports!) I was quoted between $1500 and $1700 for 4 opening panels and $160 more to make it 6 like the display home. The quote for Australian made timber ones was over 4 grand though Either way I think I'll go with the original and put the shutters in.... if the budget is a little tight I'll just do it afterwards with tax return or something Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 10Mar 18, 2015 1:14 am Hey Tbrown, is your house based on the Stonleigh by Dale Alcock?? We are building that house with some alterations.... mainly creating a powder room and a large WIL by taking some of the length from the Activity room. We are doing this as our block is only 544sqmt and there wont be room for garden sheds or larger garage so need the internal storage. Was also toying with the idea of putting in one of those attick's but not to sure about that. Did you keep the activity as a 5.1mX5.1m?? Ours will be 5.1X3.6 now we have the big store room and I am a little nervous that it would be a bit small (silly I know... it's still big enough for an 19 month old!) The Archapelago 2 by DA has a 6X3.5m Activity which seemed plenty big enough when we were there last so I guess I am stressing for nothing and you can't always have everything the way you want it! Anyway, I was supposed to have my updated plans tonight but the rep from DA got mixed up and didn't end up making it here so guess I will get them tomorrow. I have put up a plan which I have scribbled on to indicate the updates they are supposed to do. When I get a better set of plans I will start my own build thread Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Idea's for wall between Activity and Living rooms please 13Mar 18, 2015 2:49 pm awcarroll Hey Tbrown, is your house based on the Stonleigh by Dale Alcock?? Our games is the same 5.1x5.1m but that includes the passage area. I think your size will be plenty bog enough thats roughly the same size as our theatre room.
