Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 09, 2015 9:11 am Hi Everyone have been advised by my Architect that including a 2nd storey concrete slab will exceed my budget and won't see that much benefits apart from noise and temperature improvement. He has discussed about the Hebel power floor system has more benefits against cost outlay. I have done some research and have been impressed by the R values and noise transmission. Does anyone know of any display homes or centres i can view this system? In the sydney Area? Or has anyone used this product what is your feedback using this product? Thx Re: Hebel power flooring system 2Mar 09, 2015 9:48 am Hi OB, I'm only using Hebel as my external cladding but saw a massive Metricon home with Hebel floor laid, about 400 sqm! It looked and felt like concrete, rock solid! And the specialist installers only used glue and screws, so not messy like concrete. And apparently only a fraction of the price. It's also lighter than comcrete so you should also save on engineering of footings. As you stated, main benefits are acoustic, thermal, fire-resistance, but you don't have the bounce and squeak you get with timber floors. I'd say go for it! I'd recommend calling Hebel themselves, they had a 1800 number from memory, and can direct you to the builders that use it. What is your cladding? I would have loved Hebel floor as well, but budget only stretched to walls. Home is where the lot is Construction commenced 3rd November 2014 Re: Hebel power flooring system 3Mar 09, 2015 12:48 pm As per further discussions this morning i was advised to use double brick down stairs and brick veener 2nd storey you won't be able to hear anything. I will call Hebel tomorrow thx WP Re: Hebel power flooring system 4Mar 10, 2015 3:52 am There is a CSR house in Schofields which has hebel floors installed and they do feel amazing.. Like willpower we are doing external walls and are thinking to go for the floors too depending on the estimate we get back from our builder Alkira homes - Elyse15 Re: Hebel power flooring system 5Mar 10, 2015 8:15 am We are planning to use Hebel power floors hopefully this year we start to build. Call CSR they are very helpful! Since you're owner builder they will refer you to the building supplier that stocks it and will also install it around $80-90 each installed. (600x1800). I visited the schofield house, but could still hear my kids and husbands foot steps when he walks on them. But if your walls are full brick downstairs then it would be better acoustic wise. Re: Hebel power flooring system 6Mar 10, 2015 8:19 am Also there is an owner builder lady on H1 that talks about it a lot and did use it in her build search Vess+Hebel. Also your architect will have to factor it in the extra height in your build of the subfloor. Would love to know if you ended up using it! Good luck. Re: Hebel power flooring system 7Mar 10, 2015 8:21 am Is that a display home at Schofields ? If so whats the address so i can visit..... Re: Hebel power flooring system 8Mar 10, 2015 8:36 am It's where PGH bricks are, you need to call them and book a time to go inside. Google CRS house Schofield. Re: Hebel power flooring system 9Mar 10, 2015 9:21 am Interestingly enough, Aerated concrete brick walls (thermalite) was a failure in WA many years ago so there is a stigma attached. As for concrete insitu floor slabs they are still cheaper where your lower walls are brickwork here on sand foundations. If someone is watching this system going up please post photos, it is definitely interesting...Thanks for posting/sharing Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Hebel power flooring system 10Mar 10, 2015 9:52 am Why was hebel a failure in WA, was it purely logistics or a reluctance on behalf of engineers to use it and move away from traditional masonary construction. It has been used extensively in Europe for 60 years and in many other countries around the world. I definitely would have used it for my build but the builder I chose would not. It was very nearly a deal breaker. Many project home builders, on the east coast are using it. As with all building products/systems, it has its advantages and disadvantages. Re: Hebel power flooring system 11Mar 10, 2015 10:12 am Engineers are happy to use different materials/methods, but unlike architects we question material and engineering properties and as to wether it is the best solution at hand. The choice of selecting poor building materials still haunts people some 20-30 year on! http://somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73012 IMO, More info is required on hebel power floor systems Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Hebel power flooring system 12Mar 10, 2015 9:19 pm We ended up checking out a Metricon Home in Melbourne with Hebel Power floor and it seems solid so we are looking at it for our Home.
