Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 18, 2015 5:29 pm Hi All Had a new roof installed (whilst away) and the guys didn't do the best job on the final details. It is a long flat roof with side capping (not sure the term) running along it's length joining a half round gutter at the end. I would have expected that the side capping would neatly meet the the fascia and the fascia corner cover the join. The side capping would have to be folded over or cut. Not sure if this an unreasonable ask but feel that it is a bit rough as it stands... would appreciate any thoughts as to how this should look? Generally they trim up the gutter ends. It looks relatively waterproofed, but they should have spent a little more time to trim that barge. Extra few more minutes on the tin snips-I wouldn't accept this. If you needed to clean your gutters or fix your light, you could cut yourself on those raw exposed edges- so there's a safety concern too. This photo was one of a few issues (the entire capping on the hidden boundary was not fastened to the exterior) - and rust spots on both the "colorbond" and tech screws... at 3 weeks... Re: Help with roofing job - details 6Mar 06, 2015 10:34 pm Rust spots after 3 weeks is ridiculous! What kind of rust did it look like? Were they tiny little spots? Do you notice any little metal shavings nearby? It's very common for tradies who aren't tidy to do some metal cutting and not sweep the shavings away. Moisture, heat, add a pinch of rain and you have accelerated rust! You can remove it but the longer it's left the harder it'll be to remove. The product won't collapse, but still they should be giving it a good clean!
