Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 10, 2015 9:56 pm Hi Guys Im not looking at getting any work done, just wanted to know roughly/ballpark how much it would cost to lay about 12000 bricks (brick Veneer) including all materials and labour… Not face brick, the brickwork would be rendered over…. Thanks in advance for the help…... Re: Attn: All Brickies…Help Please…. 2Feb 17, 2015 8:53 pm Pending what state your building? but i have received $800 for commons per 1000 bricks and $900 for face per 1000 bricks here in Sydney. So your cost will be $9600 for 12000 common brick laying. Re: Attn: All Brickies…Help Please…. 3Feb 18, 2015 7:59 am I paid $1 per brick - labour only plus extras (I provided all the materials, bricks, sand, cement, lintels, damp proof materials, tie down rods, wall ties, and straps etc.) Extras included installing windows, sliding door frames, installing lintels, travelling time, brick mitres, header courses, scaffolding over 2.7m. Re: Attn: All Brickies…Help Please…. 4Feb 18, 2015 9:59 am As per what Beetaloo has done. A lot of brickies don't want all the associated hassle with organising materials ( around the northern beaches anyway ). They just want to rock up and start laying bricks. Thanks for this Beetaloo, so using the info in this post, a rough ballpark should be: $1 per brick layed, based on 12000 bricks = $12000 Bricks 12000 = $9600 + all materials as quoted above….. If your house is double storey or has high gable walls you may charged extra. You should discuss this with your preferred bricklayer. It is better to pay 20cents extra for a good reliable bricklayer than to shop around for the cheapest price you can get. There are several threads on this forum about people who are unhappy with the brickwork on their homes. You don't want to be one of them. Re: Attn: All Brickies…Help Please…. 9Feb 21, 2015 10:43 pm If you're rendering the surface anyway, why not consider an alternative product, i.e. Hebel, foam? I'm not a fan of bricks as they're a messy wet trade that is accustomed to long delays-there's a plethora of stories about brick delays on H1. By the time you render brick, it costs the same as Hebel or foam. And these products have superior thermal, acoustic, fire-resistance benefits, with no ugly weep holes. No brainer for me. No brainer for me. LOL..you neglect to mention that Brickwork is far superior in Durability, Structural integrity, better resale value, etc, etc I query Foam and the cost of fire resistance. Foam/Insulated homes have not been around as long as Masonry Homes and havent with stood the passage of time IMO. I am dealing with a rendered $4M Coastal home now (5 Years old ) It is not the brickwork thats failed its the render.
