Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 03, 2015 8:15 am Hi I was hoping someone could help me. I currently have a lot of creaking/rattle type of noise coming from only one of my external walls. These noises I have narrowed down to it coming from the steel wall brace on that wall. I took pictures of that wall during the build. When I put pressure on the plaster and push, the noise is created. This is very annoying because when it's windy it creaks and carries on a fair bit. Is there a way I can fix this? I know I'd have to put a hole through the wall to get to it, and maybe fix it to the stud? Any suggestions please would be great. How to embed a photo on this site... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58434&start=20 About fourteen posts down This is for uploading a photo to photobucket. Other file hosting sites are similar. (Note: You wont see the image until you post your message/topic back here ) It has to be on a picture sharing website like photobucket or imgur and then you copy the link [img]...[/img] then paste that into your post here on the forums These are " baby" steps. Once you have done it a few times it is really just a couple of mouse clicks. Basically you upload the photo to a hosting site like photobucket then find the IMG tag for that photo, copy that then paste it back here into your post. If it is speed brace it may be rubbing against one of the nogs or studs that it is not nailed to even though it should. What is the cladding on the outside ? Stewie Re: Wall Brace Issues 5Feb 03, 2015 2:51 pm Zooming in , it could be where the two bracing straps cross over and are rubbing against each other or the framers may not have nailed each brace into the nogs - just the studs only. Either could cause the noise although it is hard to imagine that they would flex that much. In another thread 33amc suggested with a similar noise that it could be the sarking vibrating in certain wind conditions. Stewie Re: Wall Brace Issues 6Feb 03, 2015 5:37 pm You could look down cavity with a snake camera and confirm where the problem is, then use expanding polyurethane foam to lock it in place. I managed to create the noise by doing that. Now I think it has to do with the frame, studs or noggins not correctly secured to that part of the wall, so possibly nails causing issues? Yes i guess this is one of the main reason as i checked one post foundation 4 9986 I am looking at building a house. Has anyone used Construkt Homes (based in Adelaide)? Does anyone have experience with this builder? 0 6450 12 5320 |
