Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 28, 2015 10:10 am I need help to identify some problems with my house. This is quite a new house ( 4 years old house ). I just notice that there is a big gap between the alumunium frame of my window to the brick in the second floor. My house is brick veneer, so the gap is visible on the top of the windows around 1-2 cm gap. I can see like a timber thing from outside the house because of the gap. There is no crack visible. The only thing is that I can see is the gap and it happen to all three windows at the front of the house on the second floor only Is this mean that there is a movement with the house. Not sure whether I need to call a structure engineer or just a local builder to fix or can I just fix it by covering up with aluminium angle this. Please any suggestion. Nothing the brickies could do about it,as the windows were in, and they aint gonna build their wall to suit the windows. Cover with some aluminium and live with it. Re: Need Help to identify the problem with my brick wall 4Jan 29, 2015 5:17 am Is it really ok just to leave it like this and only to cover the gap. I am just afraid along the time it will get worst and the front site of the house will collapse. If the bricks are not straight, does it mean that maybe the roof is to heavy for the bricks. Re: Need Help to identify the problem with my brick wall 5Jan 29, 2015 5:20 am I have already called the builder actually, but like you said he doesn't want to take any responsibility. That's why I like to find out if it's not big problem, I am just going to hire someone to fix it. Re: Need Help to identify the problem with my brick wall 6Jan 29, 2015 5:55 am If your house is a brick veneer like you say,the roof is not supported by the bricks,so don't worry about that. Has the gap been there since the house was built?or don't you know and just noticed it now? Have you checked inside your house at the top of the windows if they have moved in.? Maybe they were not nailed in properly, and a strong wind may have blown them in. Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fascia’s, roller door and undercover carport. We are are going to paint the roof a terracotta orange colour.
