Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 17, 2008 1:50 pm At the risk of sounding like a vacuous airhead, I am so worried about all of my choices and if I could I would change most of them, here is my wishlist (variation charges would apply so my husband won't let me change anything!)-
1. Change the profile of the garage door 2. Change the driveway stenciling 3. Change all of the external colours 4. Change the kitchen cupboards 5. Change the benchtop It's not even like I've found things I like a little better, it is that I hate the choices I've made! On one hand I can't wait till the house is built, on the other I would like to delay forever the dissapointment I know I am going to experience when I see my terrible choices!! Did/does anyone else feel like this? Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 2Jun 17, 2008 2:08 pm Hey Sharee,
It sounds like u want to change A LOT! im my opinion (if you can afford too) you should def think about changing these... Its ur dream house, so if u really feel strongly about ur choices, i would recommend getting them changed... otherwise u'll be forever coming home and hating ur home! and i suppose cos u want to change quite a few things, it'll cancel out the variation cost...because u have more items to change! hehe...womens logic.. good luck! Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 3Jun 17, 2008 2:11 pm Uh-oh, I won't like that feeling...
I would rather pay the variation cost than to forever regret the choices that I made... sorry.. but that's my opinion... especially if it's your 1st house.. you want to make it right. i think items #3 to 5 are very important.. not too much for the profile of garage door and driveway stencil... how much is the variation cost, if i may ask? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! I know, I know Michelle, I've learnt my lesson. Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 8Jun 17, 2008 2:28 pm Sharee, what do you mean by chaning the profile of the garage door? Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 9Jun 17, 2008 2:33 pm Sorry maybe I should have said the style of the garage door. I chose the one with the rectangles on it (sorry for the ******* description I'm not sure what it's called) now I wish I hadn't. I thought your house was looking great Paula (but that's sort of irrelevant, I guess you have to love it) Maybe I should enquire about exactly what alterations would cost us (in money and time) or I suppose you are right Al we don't plan on living there forever, so maybe as my husband says I should just 'suck it up princess' Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 10Jun 17, 2008 2:33 pm Michelle Get a colour consultant!!!!!!!!! If I lived in Sydney I could charge $120 per hour, but I don’t, poor me! By the way……IF you find a decorator or colour consultant for less than $60 - $70 per hour, She may be just starting out, so ask her, and that’s up to you wether you go with her. 9 times out of 10, they are JUST as good as the rest of us! We thought we had the first house "right".....after a few years we were already mentally changing things....after eight years the changes were going cost more than the house.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 14Jun 17, 2008 3:12 pm well sometimes I just get sick of the things Ive chosen lol even before
they are installed and sometimes they are just plain wrong and sometimes the things I think arent any good turn out better than expected sometimes I just got something to save money and its not quite right sometimes I started off wanting something and then ended up with something completely different lol etc etc etc I do sort of get sick of things quickly...is that like you are? sort of already over what youve chosen? I do wish I had gone with a professional would have been money well spent and far far far less time and money and worry you can do email consulations (like michelle does) Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 15Jun 17, 2008 3:22 pm Sharee, maybe it's not as bad as you think. You colour selections might sound bad but when all put together, it might just work?
Also, why dont you like your benchtop? The colour or the material? Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 18Jun 17, 2008 4:03 pm Sharee Hey guys, its $1000 dollars (plus the cost of the change) I'm not sure if that is per change or as Newbies suggested I could get everything changed for $1000 (I like that thinking though, that would kind of make it a bargain!) Rachelle, as I understand this, its $1000 plus the cost of the change, ie cost of upgrade of garage door, dearer bench top etc. Of course, some things like changing a colour without neccesarily upgrading the quality might not cost any more. Will get very expensive if there are several changes and the $1000 is per change. Actually, $1000 for a post contract variation is very dear, our company charges only $50 for each one. Sharee, are you sure your'e not just going thru one of those 'doubt everything' moments, many people on forum have mentioned similar stage, I think it comes from long wait between selections and product installation. Perhaps it will all be alright after all? Re colours, as Judie suggested, perhaps you could post your colour selections on Michelle's decorating forum, for some constructive input, maybe not everything needs changing after all. Re: Did anyone else get it really wrong?? 19Jun 17, 2008 4:25 pm Yep that is a bit like me bec, i'm also the sort of person who second guesses every decision I make! Thanks everyone it may well just be a stage that everyone goes through (I hope so) I might just head over to
