Re: Plumbing works & Slab Heave issues 4Jan 15, 2015 6:24 pm We were attempting to come to an agreement on a scope of works without having to go back to VCAT ... however, it seems that the builder simply doesn't want to complete the plumbing & wants us to source our own plumbers. But would that then completely relieve any responsibility of the Builder all together or am I the only one that thinks like that? Re: Plumbing works & Slab Heave issues 7Jan 16, 2015 3:35 pm He said that the (builder's) plumber doesn't want to do it & I should sought out my own plumber to complete the rectification works. But my concern would be that once I take on that responsibility, then I eliviate all the accountability of the builder. In fact, the fact that they dont want to pay for the CCTV to inspect the pipes is just the tip. What if that revealed a much more extensive plumbing issue that is yet to be identified...... the costs ofcourse are unasertainable. But if the plumbing works are not completed by the plumber and the 'rectification works' - and I use that term lightly, do not rectify the situation, does that just allow the builder to blame the workmanship of the plumber as he didn't do it? Just seems like there is no accountability on the builders behalf. Re: Plumbing works & Slab Heave issues 8Jan 16, 2015 3:45 pm Slab Heave Recipient, You are not a building professional and you can't oversee the plumber's rectification work.
