Hi all I am currently building a granny flat in our back yard I got to the bracing section and it said I am supposed to use plywood sheets at 900 with m12 rods a tech end of plywood section. The gf is on shs posts with 90x 45 pine bearers with 140x 35 joists (x2 on external edges for load bearing wall). Now I'm having trouble with the specifics for the m12 rod.... Am I really supposed to drill a 12mm through the top plates and bottom plate and subfloor then through bearer or joists to underside?... I seems excessive to drill a 12 mm hole through a 45 mm bearer or a 35mm joist. Any help you can offer if u got this far is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
