Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 18, 2006 12:42 pm hello,
i was thinking of building a house a few months ago, but had the problem of not knowing who a good builder was. I guess word of mouth is the way to go nowadays. My friends and i have made a site compiling reviews of home builders in WA. We're still to add eastern states builders, but if guys could help by putting ur input in, that would help newbies like me pick a good builder from the the bad ones. http://myhomereview.com.au thanks Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 2Oct 23, 2006 6:44 pm Sounds like a good idea, get going on NSW!!
Although…. How are you SURE the builder is shotty…. Word of mouth? We all know how that can go sometimes! It only takes one unhappy person to bad mouth someone and that’s it for them, even if the client was “The client from hell!” And we’ve all had those!!! Your site looks good…tip? I found the writing too small, even with my glasses on! You may won’t to increase the font size, no use wasting good info if we can’t read it. My site has a white background as well, it’s crisp and clean, and a good idea, but the black writing tends to become lost if it’s not big enough. Have a look at mine see what I mean. Hope you don’t mind me saying so!! Just helping. Good luck with your site; it’s a great source of info for people! We'll definitely work on the recommendations you mentioned! If you've built with a NSW builder, you can actually put a review in already, I just haven't had the time to get all their names from the yellow pages Yes, I understand that there are clients from hell. But our page is structured in a way that you're builder would have to be a con artist to get a very bad score. And hopefully we can gather enough reviews to form a proper picture on how the builders treat their clients. Im a bit unsure how to get more people putting reviews. If home owners could put their building experience in our site that would be good! A database of home builder reviews would be very useful for those who are thinking to build and to give feedback to home builders on the service they provide. www.myhomereview.com.au Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 5Dec 06, 2006 11:54 pm Hey I just visited your site before and I noticed that it was all WA. I just checked it again and its got EASTERN STATES TOO in the builders list!
Great idea! I gotta let my friends know since they're not that happy with their builders too. ta! squirrelium Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 7Dec 07, 2006 5:35 pm I've added porter davies and NSD homes.

Thank you 12Dec 10, 2006 9:30 am A big thank you back to you Healeycole. Your advice and comments about your experiences will no doubt help many new and first time builders, and with the comments of others will not doubt help us all at some point!...And thats what it's all about at the end of the day.
Well done to you! Cheers Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 13Dec 11, 2006 11:01 am No worries Bestbuilder....if you don't mind we'll leave our builder review until the completion stage so it's varied from the review already on myhomereview. Hopefully it'll be a bit more reflective of the experience as a whole. Funny really as we're already starting to mellow as so much is happening and our supervisor is doing a good job to get the work done....so far. If we'd written a review 3 months ago not much would have been printable. lol Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 14Dec 13, 2006 12:08 am Wooa! Bunoluvas thanks for the review on Plunkett Homes
I think its the biggest review in our site! But seriously, we appreciate the time it takes to write something down. Hopefully others can be enlightened from the reviews posted in our site. Not a problem 15Dec 13, 2006 11:46 pm No problem bunoluvas. When you are ready to post a review it will be sincerely appreciated!
Cheers Re: builder reviews - sorting out good and bad builders 16Mar 04, 2013 10:43 pm Hi, I've been having a little search through online because I've been done wrong by the builder I'm subcontracting to, and was looking to see if there was any negative feedback on them. I think they could be added to your website. Looking at this post, I feel it's relevant to the fact that I've seen some bad work come from these guys too! I'm a painter and decorator so we go in to do finish work, and we've seen things like attitudes from project managers to overcharge and sting clients, and disorganised projects managed by unqualified supervisors, bad excuses for jobs months overdue and poor quality workmanship, excluding my own work, lol. More to the point of trades being directed to do lower quality work. I must admit I am sore because they instructed me to do work but due to the disorganisation of the project, we were told to go in and touch up over and over again and again on 6 houses, instead of going in last thing to touch up. Every time we had a house looking mint, they would bring in plumbers, sparkys, start knocking out and reinstalling things, all trades which repeatedly damaged things all over the place everywhere. It was really bad and in the end the labour tallied up and now they are disputing my final invoice for touch ups, and calling everyone who put in the work, liars! We kept photo's and descriptions and dates, have witnesses but they are being very rude about it. Unfortunately I may have to resort to taking them to a tribunal. I'm not trying to be defamatory to them, just telling the truth as I see it and I think contractors and those looking to build should know what they're like. Would I be wrong in mentioning who they are here?
