Are they worth it? I am also thinking to put in the vertical blinds, but I am right now a bit confused as to if the vertical blinds will be interfering with the retractable screen. Any ideas? If its North. and the problem is too much summer sun coming, I find a small pergola (1m wide see http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2012/01/sha ... n-windows/) is a good solution. You get plenty of light indirectly, not the direct radiation. Big East and West facing windows are much more problematic but adding reflective (not tinted) film can make a big difference. The whole corner opens onto the deck. The screens are on the inside and have a sort of break to open and close. We mainly got them for summer nights - to allow the air/breeze. The do protrude in a bit - so need to be measured properly. But this can be done. We have verticals. You do need to use a little care - but it is not difficult. Retractable screens are great for maintaining your view as they roll away out of site when you don't need them. With stacker doors they are usually mounted to the mullion of the fixed panel so they only work over the opening and don't cover the fixed glass when not in use as standard sliding screen do. Usually the wider the opening the bigger the cassette size for the screen to roll into. I believe the Centor screens have the largest cassette so it would depend how much room you have to play with as to whether they would interfere with the verticals. You should be able to get away with a cassette which is not greater than 45mm square. Thinking Centor S1 6Jul 01, 2015 12:15 pm Just an update - we eventually went with vertical blinds because of the cost issue - retracting screen are 2 to 3 times more expensive than vertical blinds. So far, 6 months in they are alright. There was an issue last month when the vertical blind was broken as it can't be pulled or pushed due to broken track - this seems to be an inherent problem for vertical blinds especially when you have a large one like ours with 2 meter drop and 3-4 meter span which is heavy and puts a lot of weight on the track itself. We now pull the blinds very very slowly and gently. "Occam's Razor.
