Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 16, 2014 9:34 am Hi Guys I got a unit installed nearly 5 years ago and had a very good run. 3-4 months ago, I noticed when ever we turn hot water, gas monitor indicates it is ON. But I could still see Solar Indicator is ON. Even in winter, I never noticed water heated from Gas but now even in summer, I could see gas will switch on whenever we turn hot water. I got a guy from Rheem to have a look and explained to him the situation and mentioned to him that I am worried about water getting heated by solar. He toughed the out side of the unit and said nothing wrong with the unit and charged $140 + and went. After two months from technician's visit, still I see gas will switch on every time we turn hot water. And now, there is no green light ON on "Solar Indicator". I called Rheem again and said they are happy to send another technician but if nothing wrong, they will charge call out fee again. I feel there is something wrong with the unit and not water getting heated by solar. My main concern is why should I see gas ON even on a very hot summer day? What do you think guys? Thanks in advance. Re: Rheem 26 - Solar / Gas Hot Water System 2Nov 23, 2014 2:21 pm What are your gas bills like? That will determine whether you're using gas, or if the light is just on, but you're still mainly using solar. A guy came from Rheem and said nothing wrong with the unit. He said if the Relief Valve is warm or hot, that means solar is working. He completed the following and charged $245.41: Serviced unit, topped up fluids, checked temperature, replaced LED, Cleaned Filters, Gas Pressure ok. I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black. The problem is how close can I build to the gas hot water unit? Will I be able to build around it and be… 0 20231 the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 14049 I’d go heat pump, efficient and you can have a large storage tank so you don’t run out. If the house is big it can take a while for the water to run hot. I was lucky… 1 476 |
