Re: Mandatory grid connection in Launceston 3Oct 28, 2014 7:57 pm I have no idea about Tasmania, but in South Australia one must be grid connected to get a Certificate of Occupancy unless you can demonstrate that Grid connection is either not available nor feasible. There is a formula that defines what is considered to be available (i.e. the distance from the grid) or feasible (i.e. the cost to provide Utility supply). In SA, if power is available at an economical price then one must connect to it. However I do not know what happens after being granted a Certificate of Occupancy.
