In terms of run off and soaking into the ground, is paving advised as an impermeable layer around the house? There are plenty of drainage points around the slab we can divert water to. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Sunshine Re: Concrete vs Paving - Permeability 2Oct 26, 2014 5:51 pm How about a concrete base underneath the pavers ? ... keeps the water away from the house without seeing more plain old concrete. Thanks in advance Sunshine Yes use a plastic as a underlay sloping away from your house preferably into a drain. If you do this you can use pavers with plastic underneath instead of concrete and it will not allow water through into your soil.Use builders plastic and I would double it over to be sure. You can run the plastic right up to the wall and seal it so even if you gutters over flow during a storm the water running down your walls will be caught by the plastic.
