Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 05, 2008 1:25 pm I brought a house about 2 years ago (old miners cottage) and have recently completed doing up the back and inside trying to keep the origonal theme througout to the best of my ability.
But I have hit a snag currently redoing the front verandah and it's a bit of a unusual design in the it has double posts origonally there were ornate workings on there but I am unsure as to what they are or what I could put there to replace them, Have you guys have any ideas? Well done for restoring it! I would be looking for some fetwork or fan brackets for in between the two posts. I’ll see if I can show you……. OZFC - check out Ian Evans Old houses books. Thanks, I guess it's a bit of a giveaway as to were I get some inspiration from. I'm not smitten enough to bite the bullet and buy a old house and create something like these - requires a bit more cash then what I have - but there's elements you can use in a semi-modern design. I can appreciate the dedication to get them back to their former glory, OK some of the them are "old money" houses, but IMO classically beautiful. YC what does OZFC mean? Edit: And one of the things I like about Adelaide is vast number of beautifully renovated houses in these sorts of styles. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: A unuasual Verandah Ideas? 13Jun 05, 2008 10:31 pm Yak_Chat Quote: YC what does OZFC mean? I'll try and grab a photo of it tomorrow. Couldn't see if it had any decorative features as it was a dusk and there are some plants/trees hiding part of it. That would be unbelievably great Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done). My question is about the timber ledger… 0 3336 1 2993 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6157 |
