Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 03, 2014 11:24 pm Hi everyone I am new to this forum and new to owning/renovating an old miner's cottage (1850). One project - (of MANY more to come) - is to do something to about the kitchen and bathroom floors that have patchy old paint over them. I am presuming this would be old lead based paint given the age of the property? It probably would be quicker and cheaper to just paint over them but I like the marble staining of concrete "natural" look but unsure if it would be achievable. From what I have read online the stains (acid etching?) reacts with lime in the concrete and the result achieved depends on the age of the concrete that you are applying it to. If my cottage is 1850 how would this take? Could it be achieved? Has anyone tried concrete staining before and able to provide any advice/guidance? Thanks ahead of time.
