Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Does anyone have any experience with Vinyl Plank? 21Sep 15, 2014 9:01 pm Hi, I have had Vinyl Plank flooring put in a high traffic property and never had any issues..... The brand I had in was Karndean which was glued to a concrete floor which was leveled witha compund for flooring.... You only need to seal this ever few years but the best way was to use the products they suggest as they strip first and reseal to get the best result. Mine never faded or showed any defects scratch marks will show but it would have to be a deep kind of scratch other than that they cost me a fortune..... Are you going to lay the plank onto concrete flooring? 'It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.' Re: Does anyone have any experience with Vinyl Plank? 22Sep 18, 2014 11:33 am Our current home has vinyl planks in the main living areas when we bought it in 2005 (previous owner installed it but we are not sure when, they built the house in 1996). No major problems with it and we love it. Only issue is fading where the sunlight hits the master bedroom, but we were told that this was normal for vinyl planks from that era. There was a major storm once which hit our suburb and water actually flooded the inside of the house, but with just a few hours moping up, there was no damage to the vinyl planks. If it was timber laminate, we were told that it would have been a different story... We are building a new home and will choose vinyl planks again for the flooring, but will go with better quality ones. I already got my laminated floor laid! I went with Parador laminate flooring Trendtime 1 Oak tradition natural elegant texture 4-sided mini V-joint. Luckily (or maybe unluckily later on! I will find out...) the tradies who laid the floor told me I don't need the expansion joints so at least one of my worry is gone and the house looks fantastic in it. But the water/moisture issue still worries me as my fridge has a leaking problem probably because the drain pipe is frozen. "Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is almost always somebody screwed up." Re: Does anyone have any experience with Vinyl Plank? 25Jan 08, 2015 12:09 pm would be interested to know how your floor goes without the expansion joints. I too am tossing up vinyl or laminate (or bamboo) My Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74866 Re: Does anyone have any experience with Vinyl Plank? 26Jan 08, 2015 12:23 pm Following this thread. I had a very hard time trying to decide between the two too (vinyl plank vs timber laminate) I eventually chose the timber laminate as I HATE the splatting noise of bare feet on vinyl. Personal thing maybe lol. The sales person at choices said they were both good products but leant more towards the vinyl plank. He did say to us if we decided to do the timber laminate, go with a GOOD quality one, which we are. I am speaking with them in WA They were really helpful and our sales person really knew what he was talking about. They gave us a fantastic quote that we couldn't go past so we are sticking with them. Hoping the final product and service is just as great! Re: Does anyone have any experience with Vinyl Plank? 29Jun 20, 2015 8:45 pm Vinyl planks are versatile, incredibly resilient, silent under feet and waterproof, so that you can use them in your bathing room or washing laundry, and compared with the other sailing surfaces, scrubbing is completely excellent. They are very easy to set up and do not need any underlay like the other products do, either. You can also get more query from HotFrog Vinyl Plank section.
