Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 4Jun 06, 2008 2:30 pm Belgrave, what V has posted is correct. We paid to have ours infilled for the whole house and above the garage door.
Lintels are required for all of them. Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 6Jun 06, 2008 2:51 pm All ours windows were done free as standard when we signed up (not sure if they still do this)
They did want about $1500 to do brickwork above the garage door. (Which we didnt need in the end as we added eaves) Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 7Jun 06, 2008 2:52 pm Mel & Em,
From memory ours are about $100 per metre. I'll have to look this up though. IMO they really finish the outside look of the house, but in saying that, they would probably be gone early on if the budget had to be chopped. But I'm glad we'll have the infills. Ooh, goody, buy lots of lintels everyone: OneSteel is our main employer here and DH and DS both work there, lets have a rush of lintel buying, fill up order book, overtime coming up, extra money for our house projects... PS: must be standard in our house too, TDL, as we are having bricks above the windows/ doors, and haven't been asked for any extra money, house has 9 ft high ceilings? Actually I don't really understand the topic, if you don't have bricks above the windows, what do you have? And how is that affected by having or not having eaves (I understand what eaves are) Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 12Jun 07, 2008 10:10 am Helyn Actually I don't really understand the topic, if you don't have bricks above the windows, what do you have? And how is that affected by having or not having eaves (I understand what eaves are) Some builders dont put brickwork over the windows, just some painted board. On our garage, if we didnt have eaves, there would be enough space for a few rows of bricks, (or wooden board) above the door. Because the eaves run outwards and the roof comes down to meet them, you dont see the gap where the brick or board would go....(because the roof is lower) I've tried to find a pic of infill above windows.... Not sure though. Happy to be corrected on this. Think this is a good topic, because a lot of people just assume it's all going to be brick I think.

Here is our front porch on our current house, there is a door and full length window next to it and above that is plasterboard http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj187/nurselovescoffee/HPIM0762.jpg PS: as you can see by doorbell and reflected garage mount, it is really my own house and not a googled pic Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 17Jun 17, 2008 11:11 am For people building with M-con, how much did it cost them to add infills to all windows and doors on of a one storey house?
TIA Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 18Jun 17, 2008 1:03 pm Wonderland
We arent building with M but did get a quote from them the quote we have for brick infills to windows/doors was $1830 for 18.3 LM... this was last year thou. Hope that helps! Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 19Jun 17, 2008 2:18 pm Thanks Paulie
For some reason, I thought it was a standard for M but now I realise it's all extras!! I will have to ask the SC for a quote now. That's just more money added to the total! Re: Brick Infill above windows and doors?? 20Oct 07, 2008 9:53 pm We are having eaves around 3 of 4 sides of our house. These reach down toward the windows. The windows are moved up by 135mm to meet the eave. There are no in-fills used. Internally there is a 265mm gap above the windows and the ceiling. This is how our builder (M) does it.
