Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 22, 2014 12:11 pm Hi Does anyone know if I can claim builders warranty on this issue: my Jarrah floating floorboards are separating all over the house. Some gaps are fairly large & dust is coming through them. I have tried to speak to the builder on a number of occasions & he's not really interested. The house is nearly 5 yrs old but this has been happening for about 4 yrs & the builder has been aware of this. Any help on resolving this would be appreciated. Thanks Tracey Re: Builders Warranty 2Aug 22, 2014 1:21 pm If the builder has disappeared or gone bankrupt you can go straight to the builders warranty insurer but otherwise I think you actually first have to go through a tribunal. If you're in NSW there is a link and some info below, otherwise you might want to check whats in your state: https://homewarranty.nsw.gov.au/portal/ ... 3Bhome/255 "Where a builder is unable to honour their commitments under a contract due to insolvency, death or disappearance home warranty insurance provides a safety net for homeowners including subsequent purchasers. Similarly, where a builder is unwilling to honour such commitments and their licence is suspended for failing to comply with a money (compensation) order in favour of the homeowner made by a Court or the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), home warranty insurance provides protection to the homeowner.
