Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 28, 2014 9:59 pm We have ants eating through our bathroom. Our house is in Perth, and is only 3 years old. It's as though the ants are living under the bath?! They are eating through all the corners in the bathroom. At the base of the bath (through the tiles), through the corner of the shower etc. This has now cause a big issue, as they have eaten through the silicon in the corner of the shower, and through the corner where the door frame meets the floor, and our floorboards are now severely buckled. It is very annoying, considering we have solid timber floors and our house is a new build (in Kensington Perth). My question is --> How can ants get into a brand new home and make such a mess. Is this any fault of the builder? Did they not do something correctly? Did they not seal things correctly? I cannot work out how the ants are getting into the home. We have termimesh also. I know that this protects against whiteants, but I'm guessing it doesn't help with normal ants...? Any help would be appreciated! Re: Ants under my bathroom. House only 3yrs old! 2Jul 29, 2014 2:10 pm Critters can get in despite it being new. Apparently ants can like water! I've not heard of normal ants eating through materials. Get a qualified pest inspector ASAP. Often the damage you see is nothing compared to what you can't see. Old Home Restoration / Renovation Hi, just discovered all these junks left behind under the floor. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up? Thank you for your thoughts 0 8070 Yeah my reasoning is just that those house posts are designed for vertical load not lateral. I just didnt want to risk interfering with the existing house… 4 11541 you need to make an application to your local council for this as they are the approval authority for driveways cheers Simeon 1 7094 |
