Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 17, 2014 2:08 pm Hi All, Long time lurker, first time poster. I am getting my pool built at the moment in NSW. 2 or the fences for the pool are boundary fences which are required to be 1800mm high. 1 of the fences is timber and will be easy to adjust for hight. The other fence is colorbond and will need extending to reach the 1800mm height required. The amount which the fence needs to be extended is from 200mm through to 1200mm. What are the options for extending colorbond fences keeping in mind that the inside of the fence must have a 900mm non-climbable zone form the top of the fence. My idea is to see if there is an extension for the colorbond fence posts available that allows you to join onto the existing fence posts. That is i would like to take the cap off the current post, insert a sleeve, then connect another colorbond fence post to get the correct height. If this is possible i should be able to overlap the existing fence line vertically and rivet the two sheets together to get the desired height. Once finish i could then put the existing caping on the top. Does anyone know if this is possible? Can you rivet the colorbond fence sheet vertically? Can you get sleeves to join 2 colorbond fence posts? Any suggestions would be grateful. Cheers, Timo. Re: Extending Colorbond Fence 3Jun 18, 2014 10:33 am On the ones I have built, Colorbond fence posts are made up by screwing 2 lengths of channel together. You can not sleeve them. If your fence has tube type posts then your theory could work. Ring a Fencing shop. If they dont have anyhting, you could make up a sleeve. you can get Bluescope steel to cut lengths of panels to your spec. No they appear to be two pieces fixed back to back, not a tube. I know that you can get 300mm extension kits for these colorbond posts however they are not long enough. See example below: https://www.masters.com.au/product/900030807/post-extension-colorbond-fence-grey What i really need is the sleeve part below the 300mm post part. Re: Extending Colorbond Fence 5Jun 19, 2014 11:14 am I think they make that for people who just want to increase their privacy. Note the sleeve part of only 5 cms or so, definitely not enough for a 1200mm extension. Its a boundary fence, so you want to do it properly. Bite the bullet and reinstall the posts to the correct height. You could then re use your existing sheeting, and top up as per what i said in my previous post. OR just get new panels made up.
