Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 2May 31, 2014 8:56 am Making the NCC freely available is a very welcome step. I'll be interested to see what other reforms they are intending to ensure the NCC is "robust, without strangling the sector with red tape"???? Hopefully not watering it down. Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 4May 31, 2014 9:49 am "Mr Baldwin said other reforms were eliminating the NCC’s purchase price (almost $400), improving small business’ access to the NCC , and increasing the number of building and plumbing practitioners able to access using the NCC from 12,000 to around 200,000 across Australia." Is the above an admittance that 188,000 out of 200,000 building and plumbing practitioners currently don't access the NCC? 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 5May 31, 2014 11:06 am Yeah, that says a lot doesn't it. About time too. Now it means if this goes through that there will be no excuse for anyone involved in the building industry from designers through to tradesmen not to know the rules. It also means clients will be more familiar with what is required as well. Thanks for the link SaveH2O. Stewie Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 6May 31, 2014 1:36 pm ITs a disgrace that it hasnt been freely available for so long. The amount of empowerment it will give to owner builders and others will be fantastic, and help to keep the bastards honest. (to use Don Chipp's phraseology) Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 7Jun 05, 2014 8:18 am I was talking to a builder friend a couple of days ago and he also heard that updates will be every two years or so not incremental as they occur. Stewie The on-line 2014 version only displays the text correctly. There is a "X" where the tables & figures should be. I have check this using another work mates computer and the same happens for them when they try to view the 2014 NCC on line. Unfortunately Tables are figures are often the very thing you want to view as they usually contain really useful information. I have access to a hard copy of the NCC so it is not an issue for me. This also happened about 10 years ago with Australian Standards when they were first available on-line. Standards Australia have long since fixed this problem for their subscribers. Cheers, Stewie Stewie, I did a bit more research and found that the On-Line version does not work with Microsoft Internet Explorer. It only works with Opera, Safari and Firefox. Re: National Construction Code - Media Release 30/05/2014 13Jun 06, 2014 11:37 am Good old Micro$oft! Lucky I use a Mac and Safari/Firefox. I've been to a few forums and websites that say not to use IE as there are compatibility issues. Add another to the list. Biannual updates may appear to be a retrogressive trade off but it is a change that most probably will also prove popular. 3in1 Supadiverta.
