Theres probably under 30m2 of asbestos sheeting on that garage roof, make 3 equal piles, wrap em up, take them to three different disposal places, or get friends to drop it off. Re: Asbestos removal 6May 24, 2014 12:11 pm A lot of the councils have a more lenient attitude towards how much you can dispose of compared to the official line of 10 sq m. I removed 30 sq m ( most of the eaves and back verandah ) from our place and took it to our local tip in two separate loads without the council guy blinking an eye. YMMV as they say. Stewie Re: Asbestos removal 8May 24, 2014 1:19 pm I can't remember how much it was for me per tonne but each load I took was about 8 bags that would have weighed roughly 15 - 20kilos each all double bagged in the recommended plastic bags and sealed with duct tape. I was charged $80 for the first lot and $70 for the second which I thought was pretty reasonable. The council guy didn't bother weighing anything - just stuck his head in the back of my Landcruiser and said " Yep, that'll be $xxx thanks" This was all standard 5mm ( probably 3/8ths" ) thick eaves fibro. Stewie What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it.
