I'd seriously doubt whether they are "structural", maybe some of the builders on here could provide advice as to whether these types of columns are merely show or do anything useful - like hold a beam up. I'm glad to hear you say you don't like them....didn't think you were the Grecian type.... I've had a builder friend look at them - he doesn't think they are structural. The issue will be with the floor tiles - what is holding them on, I have one small tile I found in the garage, and need to go and see if I can get more if the ones under the columns need to be replaced when the columns come out.
