Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 05, 2014 7:19 pm I'm getting my ceiling replaced through insurance and after talking to the plasterer he has asked if l would like him to paint the ceiling as well or "would l like to save money and paint it myself'. While l don't mind painting it myself l would like to know approx. how much labor costs l would be saving by doing it myself. l have 2 areas to paint, one being 4.60 wide x 9.40 long meters and the other 3.50 wide x 5.00 long meters. I'll plan to do 1 primer/sealer/undercoat and 2 top coats. I'm allowing 15ltrs for the primer $145 and 30ltrs for the top coats $300 costing $450 in paint. Thanks Re: Cost to paint a ceiling.. 3May 07, 2014 1:13 pm Hi fruity, In my humble opinion, the cost to paint a ceiling would be the same as to paint walls. According to the Archicentre cost guide this would be in the range of 11 - 24 dollars per square metre. I don't know if this helps. No, I stand corrected. Just found this on the Home Improvements website: All things considered the average cost of interior painting is about $16-$18 per square metre, including the ceiling, which is usually calculated at a higher rate per square metre. I'd post the link but it keeps on coming up as forbidden text! Go to the Home Improvements website and look at interior painting.
