Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 05, 2014 12:25 pm Instead of rendering my house and having it crack after a few years, I'm thinking of wrapping the whole house in a cultured stack stone cladding and was wondering if you know anyone else that has done this.. I know its peicey, not worried about the cost, what do you think? The stack stone I am referring to is the rusty stack stone as pictured below; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and then I'll have down lights around the perimeter of the house so it'll look pretty good at night.. what do you think? should i go for a different type of stack stone? Kind of like back in the late '80's in Sydney where every second new house or reno had a black tiled roof with terracotta coloured hip and ridge tiles. I certainly wouldn't be doing a whole house in it. Designwise it would look too heavy. As a standalone feature wall or feature panel maybe but otherwise no. Sandstone and limestone have been used extensively over the ages for whole homes/buildings and look great centuries after. Stack stone looks fake on a small scale, will look even more so on a large scale. Cladding a whole building in stone will be pricey.
