Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 01, 2014 5:14 pm Hi there, I'm wondering what others have gone through regarding signing a house contract without site costs being fixed? Hubby and I are going to be building with M3tricon, our land has not yet settled, therefore M has not been able to do full site tests (they have done initial tests). They have said our site costs will not be fixed until the land has settled. We are close to our Contract signing stage and M said not signing the contract would delay getting developer sign-off, ordering items, etc. I'm not happy to sign until these costs are fixed, I've heard that building companies do fix these costs based on initial tests. Any help would be appreciated. Re: Fixing of Site costs before signing house contract 2May 01, 2014 5:43 pm Our site costs are only preliminary in our contract! Once the builder gets on site, the costs will be finalised. If it is under, then we get a credit. If it is over, then we need to find the extra money. Not much option for us I'm afraid, we needed to sign the contracts for finance and they can't finalise the site costs until the land is settled, which is obviously after we have the finance.
