I have noticed that Kevin at New Home Inspections seems to be a popular choice for those of us building in and around Melbourne & have decided to email him in the near future with regard to using his services for my build, which will hopefully begin in around 2 months time. Obviously his fees are a small price to pay on the grand-scale of the overall build cost, however at the same I still need to stick to my build budget. I am happy to stretch to 2 or possibly 3 inspections, which would be around $800 to $1200. Can anyone give me any advice on which stages are more important as far as being inspected. At a guess, I would assume frame-stage is very important and also handover stage, however if we do decide to have 3 done in total, which other stage would people recommend from their past experiences. Looking forward to any suggestions! Cheers Re: Independent Building Inspections... 2May 21, 2008 9:27 pm For a third you could add warranty (as I have)
Kevin picked up on a few issues (bigger ones) that th Carlisle Homes representative missed. As for construction inspections....maybe a slab inspection but personally I wouldnt as Kev will pick that up at framing anyway... Re: Independent Building Inspections... 3May 21, 2008 9:47 pm Cheers Matt,
I agree that the slab & frame can be inspected together, so that's 1. I wasn't sure whether to go for the pre-plaster inspection followed by the handover inspection, however I'd like to know more about the Warranty Inspection....could you explain a little more about this? Sorry if it's obvious but I haven't built before You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections. The difference between the two comes down to inspecting the building so it's safe and… 3 18058 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 81847 It is true that a builder can ignore your independent inspection report as it is not part of the contractual arrangement but that is stupid because he cannot avoid fixing… 9 46834 |
