Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 15, 2014 12:05 pm Hi All, We are down to selecting bricks for our construction, and are deciding between a clay brick vs concrete brick. We are looking for a grey/silver brick and have found one in concrete that looks fabulous. Another supplier of clay bricks have a shade darker which is "glazed" so if it were to be chipped in transport or whilst being layed, this would show the brown brick beneath. We prefer the look of the concrete brick but the salesman for the clay brick tells us the concrete will get up to 30% more thermal absorption as opposed to clay brick being a denser product. The price of both bricks are the same so it comes down to choice. I think the salesman is a bit biased towards the clay bricks IMHO Does concrete have the same thermal absorption as clay brick? Is concrete prone to fading over time (on north/west side?) Any downside to using concrete bricks? Any help greatly appreciated I've dug some footings to embed a post anchor into. My holes are around 450mm deep which I'll put a 200mm stirrup into. The bottom of these holes seem firm enough. … 0 3475 |
