We have a green rubbish bin on-site and although it is meant to be for the builders rubbish, it seems that all the neighbours seem to help themselves to it!!! Our S/S periodically goes through our big green bin (without jumping into it) to check who's throwing what into it....if he finds proof of identity then he calls the council and complains. He said it costs them a lot in collection fees for other peoples crap.... A few weekends ago we sprung the one of the neighbours loading dirt and rocks into our bin....Ian wasn't impressed and said something to her...her response was "well everyone does it!!!" Now this is a new neighbour who we haven't met yet, you'd think she'd say "oh sorry, do you mind if we do", or something like that???? And then introduce herself to us??? Nope she finished loading the bin up and went back to her work.... Hmmm not a nice way to start with the new neighbours i say!!!! It was funny though, she saw us driving up and we parked right up next to the bin where she was....LOL...she panicked and yelled out to the husband (who was in their front garden) asking him what she should do..... LOL.....He just ignored her and let her get into trouble by Ian.... So i ask you, have you had this happen on your site? Or have you been the culprit behind it? Any confrontations that you might want to discuss....of course your anonimity is assured.... Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 2May 19, 2008 2:11 pm ... wasn't me. Can't prove a thing...

I think they should have a law, if they can't identify and remove all their rubbish then they will be charge the whole cost for the bin. That would stop it pretty quick... LOL, the rest of them seem to be great though (well the ones we have met), we're already planning a street party/bbq when everyone's in....so maybe THEY just don't get an invite!!!! One guy was doing it around the corner dump his trash in there... and he response was similar .. we told him well how would he like it if we dump the trash in his property.. That settled it.. with him. Matt Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 11May 19, 2008 10:13 pm Used to happen all the bloody time!!
In the end we resorted to just emptying it out on the nature strip in front of the neighbours houses and it stopped immediately. Most of our work is renovations so these were well established areas. Not that it may have been the neighbours, but they didn't want crap dumped in front of their homes so maybe they became the bin police! Very annoying as bins cost a fortune these days - we spend about 40K a year on bins alone! Builders are people too.... Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 13May 19, 2008 10:48 pm I have to say someone, probably the same neighbours threw out old clothes into our bin...
The clothes were all nicely ironed and folded - couldn't they just drop it in a charity bin instead of a rubbish bin and give them to someone that could really use them....i mean seriously??? Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 14May 19, 2008 11:40 pm Bins do seem to be regarded as fair game. Worse if you have a skip ! Do the hard jobs first. had someone even actually bend the top of a locked bin permanetly open to throw their rubbish into one and still claim they didnt know they were doing anything wrong and that it must be there for everyone that incident became quite heated Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 16May 20, 2008 11:24 pm I could never dump rubbish in a neighbors bin or on a vacant block of land, but i did find heaps of rubbish dumped in our bin during our house construction from the neighbors packing boxes, packaging from tv s ect they had bought.
My ss didn't do a thing about it.. lucky for you P that you had a on the ball ss. Though since i have moved in i have watch neighbors dump packing boxes wood, grass on a vacant block of land over the road from me . I was going to complain to council as it looked like a tip ,made the street look messy but the council came along and cleaned it up. I have packing boxes i need to dispose of but wait for recycle night and fill the bin up then. Wait for bin nights when neighbors sneakingly put their rubbish in your bin. Now that makes me mad Re: Rubbish Bins on-site 17May 20, 2008 11:33 pm LOL well we'll see what happens now cause our bin was collected today!!!
There is still some rubbish that neighbours have left for us....how nice of them hey??? We'll see who's bin they are going to put crap into now!!!!! Simon Short of setting up cameras and bright sensor spotlights to try and deter, security fences are probably the best way to go especially if you have a big project on the go. Still can't believe people think it's ok to do this. Even council charges for hard rubbish these days and they wont take everything. 15 13801 because its not being managed properly.
