Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 21, 2014 8:17 am Hi Guys, I'm meeting with some pool builders in SA. We are going for a fibreglass pool and would like to know the big and not so big questions to ask? or if you have any knowledge of the following, i'd appreciate your help. - what to look for in a pump? How strong does it need to be? - how far is your pump from the house? - fresh water vs salt water pool - what's the benefit of one on the other? I'm leaning towards fresh water based on taste. - heating ideas? Thanks Re: POOL QUESTIONS 2Feb 21, 2014 8:37 am My dad completely renovated his pool 2 years ago and the old pool was chlorinated. He switched to a salt water set up and hasnt looked back. He just said that he wasted less time on getting the levels correct, less maintenence, cheaper in the long run and there was no longer that chlorine like smell. I honestly feel like it's swimming in fresh water (my eyes dont get irritated) and compared to other pools and dont notice any taste to the water. It is personal opinion at the end of the day, but I know that he is thrilled now his pool is a salt water one. We are going down the road of an inground swim spa, but haven't even started looking at any places yet! Haha The fencing has started going up around the blocks. The panels look really good. Sad that i'm so excited by fencing, or even when they've just dug a hole, or moved a bit of pipe... It seems you go a little loopy when building! (or waiting to build). There are big metal gates on the bridge entrance, which mostly stay open on weekdays/nights. They do shut them on the weekends sometimes. But, you can park at the end of Trapper Court & cross the creek - or just walk along it till you get to the path along the train line and then the path connects up and you can just get in anyway!
