Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 01, 2006 9:44 pm I have to choose a type of tile to use in my kitchen. I Want something that is durable and can handle water spillages. Does any have info about the pros and cons about ceramic, porcelin and the other types of tiles? thanks Re: What type of tiles to use? 2Oct 06, 2006 3:01 pm Bozmans Blues, hope I can help you here.
All floor tiles are durable and hard wearing to water, I myself would prefer ceramic over porcelain, depends on the consumer. Talk to your tile supplier for his advice once you have nutted out a few you like. What you really need to look out for is the slippage of a tile once it has water on it. Highly glazed tiles will become extremely slippery with the slightest bit of moisture. Be aware of this in heavy traffic zones such as the kitchen. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What type of tiles to use? 3Oct 06, 2006 3:59 pm We had light coloured floor tiles in our kitchen and the grout got dirty and stained, it was a real pain. Dark grout didn't go well with the tiles. Re: What type of tiles to use? 4Oct 06, 2006 6:06 pm Have you thought about using the Karndean Vinyl tiles?
They are very strong; you could look at the commercial grade tile in this range, this way there is no grout issue for you. www.karndean.com This is their web site have a look see what you think. It’s a good flooring. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com A engineer designed slab on screw piles with void formers could be another option. 32 6877 2 3572 Planner - Bob Chambers BBC Consulting Planners Ph 0418 971 591 5 3255 ![]() |
