I know when I was setting up the insurance they look up the number and it's already on a list. Is that a post office list so it means it's already listed?
Anyone? This is one of those questions about building you try and secretly find the answer to without having to ask anyone for fear of sounding stupid......discovered there are lots of these questions though and my inhibitions are dropping... Em Re: Post Office 2May 16, 2008 3:54 pm You will need to inform Australia Post of your change of address so yourmail can get sent to your new address.
Is that what you mean? I think it is a good idea to get your mail redirected for a while so nothing goes to your old address, I think it is a small monthly fee. Australia Post also have a very helpful pamphlet with a list of who you need to inform of your change of address - Motor registration, utility providers, phone provider, electoral roll etc. Very handy to get this list so you don't miss anything important. I don't know what happens after that - who the council informs as to numbers in different streets? I know when new utility installations (gas, water or electricty) are put in, the actual street numbering often has no bearing on how the technician allocates an address to a property - it can be totally different to what you may know your property as. As for the post office, all they'd be involved with is the mail redirection Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Post Office 5May 19, 2008 7:01 pm Dolly22 Yes we found out the number pretty early on so I guess it's just a matter of getting mail redirection for a few months. I've got a pretty comprehensive list of addresses to change already. Em You can also do what we did. We have changed our address on everything to the address of the block. Then we have redirected it BACK to our old house. That way when we move, instead of having to change all our addresses, all we have to do is remove the redirect! Hope that helps someone.
