We contracted a builder to do our kitchen renovation. Contract said that it will only take 12 days or 18 days including the delays. We paid every progress payment on time. Project started on the 3rd of December and now it is end of January. Builder still not going to finish the project. The project costs $50k and we are down to last 10% payment. Please tell me what can I do. Everyday he will said he will come to finish it, so I stayed home and he will just not turn up with excuses like I dont have car, my wife need car, my daughter is sick, someone is fixing my electricity, funeral and etc. I really am run out of ideas. I sent him email to terminate his contract if he was not finishing the project soon...but he didnt care. FFS is there something I can do? I am really frustrated at the moment. Firstly, was there a formal signed contract in place with the builder? Do you have his license details? Was home warranty insurance provided? How is the quality so far? If there was a formal contract, and an exact time specified in the contract conditions, and an amount included within the damaged clauses, then you can charge him back for delay costs, if not then you need to do the following. If you don't have that it is very hard to put pressure on the builder considering you have paid 90% already, that is why he isn't caring at all. Get in contact with CTTT in relation to this case, they would be the best person to advice you on this matter. Other option is to get another builder in to finish the work, and charge back to the original builder. However, firstly you need to write to him informing him that you would be doing this. P.S. The quoted date of 12/18 days for a kitchen renovation isn't achievable, to manufacture the kitchen would take 3-4 weeks As a tradesmen get a private inspector although I don't think there worth it in their profession themselves the reminder they serve to the tradesmen doing the work is… 3 27359 Hi all, Been browsing project builders' website and saw Masterton with attached granny flat design Seeing bad reviews from masterton in this website/facebook, does… 0 18299 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely!
